Lord of The Flies

1/8/17

Dear Diary,

Tonight was lord of the flies. Lord of The Flies is about  a group of school kids whose plane crashed on a deserted island. By night is a great tropical paradise by night there dreams are haunted by a beast. My characters name is Percival Madison I'm the youngest but about an hour ago I was nervously under the hill in my grey button up shirt neatly tucked into a blue pencil skirt. I had a slicked back bun with white knee length socks and black school shoes. On My right there was my school logo, Everwood Primary. Jenna (the stage manager) was waiting for my que ‘WE DID IT” that's when I went on stage look into around. I saw One familiar face MRS DURSTON! I stepped onto the sand it all can draining into my shoe yaaay… I started kind of limping and said my first line ‘Was there a Fire? Then Ralph would reply ‘Yes But is gone now’ and so on. Once we’ve finished the scene we need to freeze frame till is pitch Black then we can go off stage but you see the to rocks polls and a step you need to go up and dodge and I'm the first one of so I always either trip get hit in the face or hurt my leg. Back in the dressing room I need the take my sandpit shoes off (Such a relief) unbutton my top button, ruffle my hair and dab hot chocolate On my face for the effect of mud. I go back on stage for me to pretend that I'm asleep which means sand gets in EVERY crack. In the second act Jack, Roger and the rest of the hunters kill the pig and Simon gets killed. In interval we change into our ripped costumes, tangle our hair up and put mud on our face ( it's not real mud it's Cocoa powder ) and head back on stage. Then it's the finale I go on stage with a big grin I look at Mrs Durston she pokes her tongue out at me I poke mine back. And now I'm here writing to you. I'll be doing this all again soon. (By soon I mean tomorrow.)

My 3 Way Conference

A 3 way conference is a meeting where you and your parents meet and see
how you're doing in your school and class.

First you Welcome your parents then you might show them the
class after you would show you’re learning site. Its was during a
school day so everyone is in the class. The teachers were present
for support but it was lead by the students.

3 Way Conferences are the best because the help the parents
understand that there child knows what theyre doing.

Thanks for reading I hope you consider this,

My Holidays...

Well the holidays were pretty chill except if you count nearly being toppled by a mountain of suitcases, walking on black magnet sand, seeing thousands of fairy lights and nearly drowned by fake waves but otherwise it was pretty ok .

You want to know more of what happened let's talk about the first thing I said, well I was crammed in the back in our 7 seater car with the tower of Pisa made of suitcases, leaning on me. I looked out the window we were nearly there! We pulled in the gate I seriously thought we were staying in a house but no a CRATE! My heart stopped I was not going to sleep in a crate mum had other ideas. In the end it turned out pretty good I made a friend, feed ells at a creek, learned how to play pool and I felt magnificent magnet black sand! We stayed with two other families one of them was actually Jacobs family.

You want me to tell you about the black sand well it was BEAUTIFUL and soft it was like I was walking on clouds but of course it wasn't because I would drop to my death but… anyways I ran down the sand dunes and splashed into the sea!
A few days later we were watching a man fish he caught a baby shark! It was sooooooo cool The next bit is the best Austin saw that Jacob and the other family's oldest son run away so Austin thought he was cool and said.. See you suckers!’To the fisherman, Dad and I then proceeded to run and tripped over his own two feet in the end he ate sand.

 Bad karma I guess ☺️

The light show was amazing it was like a thousand fireflies in one place. There was a HUGE sleeping giant hanging in a tree. You would type in a specific address to spark  on messages and they would pretend to be the giant and text back. Dad texted…‘WAKE UP JEFF!’ (It's a thing me and dad have)The “giant” replied... “Children like you should not wake me up it's very rude”Dad replied “ Me rude how how dare you and I'm not a child!”Dad joked.

How about nearly being drowned by fake waves? We went to a pool in New Plymouth that had a slide that was 1000000 times faster than the lidos speed slide if you think that the lidos speed slide gives you insane wedges.
There was two slides one was the family slide and that was ok but the other slide wow. I walked up the stairs I looked down everything started to get further away like a hallucination. I climbed past the family's slide up to the turbo slide.when I got there my hand were trembling and my heart was racing I climbed up the step ladder to the mouth of the slide I held my breath sat down lay back and pushed….I closed my eyes and… WOO SSSHHHH!!!!!
I slid down the slide like a rocket or a missile launching . I made a squinting face like I just swallowed  glass of lemon juice because water flew in my face. Once the dip had finished it went straight that meant you didn't move so you had to kind of push yourself to the end. After about 5 seconds I landed in the splash pool grinning from ear to ear. I was so proud I jumped in the pool big mistake.  The waves were on! Not little ones GARGANTUAN ones. I was half drowned by the waves. Well that might be a little ott (over-the-top) I was doing backstroke and HEAPS of water went over my head but I managed to go to the side of the pool where it was safe I kind of didn't get the memo that most people had big boards so I got one and swam (still with the board) in. It was Such fun you would sit on the board and clench on for dear life and the waves would viciously rock you in all directions. In the end I had a AWESOME time!

Thanks so much for reading my story please leave a comment about what you did in the holidays!

Cross country

Ready…  Set… BANG, roared the gun. I sprinted up the hill pushing myself hard. Then I felt myself running down a hill at full speed. It was also very muddy and sticky. The smell of  cow poop went up my nostrils. I saw people passing me with red hot faces. I was speeding down the hill. I heard a squash and I looked down poop honestly was all over my shoe. How could that happen? But I had to keep going; this was AWFUL. I turned round the bend over another hill, then mud, then yet another hill! how many hills can one have on a farm? The sun was blazing down on me I saw a teacher. Below them was mud mud and more mud how could this get any worst! I saw the trees YAY (that's good by the way it means that it's nearly over) but there was one bad thing IT WAS ALL DOWN HILL I was not good with down hills as you know but I heard my mum cheering so I went hard and came in 13th.   Comment below when you had to go down a steep hill thanks or if you have done cross country.

Committee of the Council

On Friday the 5th of May, Madeleine James (10), Eilidh Mackay (10) and Kate Coutts (10) who are Young Leaders at College Street Normal School attended the Palmerston North City Council Committee Meeting to present their submission about Palmerston North. There were multiple meetings to decide whose ideas to include in the budget.

Kate Coutts recommended that a recycling bin be placed next to every rubbish bin in the city. Madeleine James and Eilidh Mackay thought of new ideas to make Palmerston North better, for example, having more free events, activities at the library for tweens and opening the science observatory to the public.

“These three girls are extremely passionate and are committed to making a difference in our local community” says Amanda Dennison, one of the teachers who work with the Young Leaders team.

“Today was an amazing experience that I will never forget” said Madeleine James.
“It was so much fun and the City Councillors were so nice. I just want to do it all over again!” says Eilidh Mackay
“It was an incredible experience and everyone was so welcoming. All the Councillors valued and considered our ideas.” Kate Coutts.

After the meeting, Shannon (A city librarian) asked Madeleine, Eilidh, Kate to come to the Palmerston North City Library to discuss their ideas for having more tween events.

The girls were overjoyed and very excited about Palmerston North’s future. They hope to hear from Councillor Rachel Bowen soon about their ideas for Palmy and if they are worthy of their budget.

Pigeon Impossible

This story contains 3 things a pigeon a spy and a bagel.

“Wow a donut!” thought Cow ( a stupid name for a pigeon). What Cow was meaning was a crisp brown bagel and he  wanted to eat it he hadn't seen a bagel since 1920 ( dont ask me how old he is)
So with the biggest pigeon eyes he could do he perched on the side of the bench the man was sitting on. The man was tall and had shades as the night sky he also had a  high-tech briefcase, his name was Walter. The man felt  sorry for Cow so he gave him a miniscule piece of bread.
‘I can't believe this’ Cow said mortified.
For Cow wanted the WHOLE bagel just then he attacked the man. The man threw the bagel with all his might so naturally he went to get it. The briefcase was open. He hopped in to get the so called “ donut” but it snapped him in.

Now sorry to stop the story but pigeons are colour blind. Most of us would see a big red button but he saw a murky snot-coloured button it looked like food so he pecked at it. Sadly it was not food to Cows surprise. The button was only meant to be an complete  EMERGENCY BUTTON .  Lets just say things got out of hand  what I mean is the city completely blew up. You might not believe me but a huge white statue split into quarters to revealing a huge 2.4 billion dollar missile. It shot up in the air carrying Walter and the bagel with him. Cow wasn't going to let this go that easily. He shot up to Walter he didn't want a burnt bagel. Walter threw the bagel down Cow did a backflip somersault rolly polly twist down to get the bagel( Old Master Pigi taught him) he finally go his wings on the bagel Walter looked smug as he walked away.  HUGE PART of the missile crashed and squashed him flat.

Read Eilidh's blog for what happens after to walter!

THE MUD RUN

The smell was ghastly, just like fresh cow poo.

The oozing mud crept up on my feet like carnivorous snakes pulling me down into the mud.

Every crack in my body got covered in mud.

My leg had dug down into the pit of mud.

I was stuck in a concoction of dirt, rain and acute sticks.

Kate had to tug me out of the mud with great heaves.

When we got to the end I had learned about friendship, teamwork and getting involved.

I'm defentlty not going again!
